Why We Do Things Differently

After 10 years in the roofing industry, our co-founder Cody Vanderwerf had seen it all. And a lot of it he didn't like.

Working for multiple roofing companies, he watched customers get promised quality and delivered far less. He was told to cut corners, rush jobs, and skip safety procedures - all to compete on price in a race to the bottom that delivered inferior work - destined to fail.

Called in to repair roofs that had been poorly fixed years earlier, the full picture became clear. Shoddy workmanship using cheap materials that were never going to last. Corners cut to maximize profit — no pride in workmanship - no comitment to quality. And maybe even worse, widespread safety violations that exposed homeowners to serious legal liability if something went wrong and someone was hurt working on their roof.

And shady operators got away with it because homeowners didn't understand roofing, couldn't get up on their roof to check work themselves - and had no idea that WorkSafe compliance standards weren't being followed.

Frustrated by a system that sacrificed quality for speed. That put workers at risk. That left homeowners with work that looked done but wouldn't last - all while exposing them to legal risks they never knew existed (should someone get injured working on their roof).

All these experiences lit a desire in Cody to do things his own way. Better.

So, The Roof Professionals was born — not from some big idea, but from a simple commitment: if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
